ABC translates the Osama Tape: An Editorial on Saudi Arabia

ABC TV has come out with its own translation of the Osama Tape and discovered that while the US Government has not doctored the tape, it has not given the whole story. ABC's translation shows the deep complicity of members of the Saudi royal family and key clerics in the business of terrorism. Well, two whole marks to ABC for getting its own translation. That was a good job.

Now lets deduct two marks from ABC's tally for naiveté. A number of us in the analysis business have been saying for months that the US has to fix Saudi Arabia and worrying about Iraq later. The US Government is not in the habit of taking advice from your editor, but he suspects that when the American public and to a great extent the American Congress finds out how much the US executive is lying to them about the Saudi-Terrorism nexus, they are going to be most unhappy.
