but very little in reality
violence against infidels, rather than missionary preaching and conversion

almost no tradition in last 4 centuries with education
unless you count memorization of the Koran

end result: backwater culture, economy, despotic politics, poverty, misogyny, resentment

Sept11th brought to the forefront the bankruptcy of Islam
culturally, economically, politically
