Well, you'd have to get a majority to want it, but I highly doubt you'd get the majority. The Cubans in Florida aren't stupid enough to want to become part of Cuba. They are too prosperous as US citizens. Also, truth be told, the US gov't would never allow secession of a state from the union. Remember the civil war? They didn't allow it then and they wouldn't allow it now.

But my point is not that I think it is a theoritical possibility, but that for the common man, a lang grab by their government is meaningless. What good does it do the common man? All it does is create war and misery for everyone. I'd rather have peace and economic prosperity and live as a Muslim in a Bhuddist nation rather than have constant war and poverity and live in a disputed area.

Why would all those people want independence? The answer is that they'd prefer peace. A deeper answer is that it's a power play by the Pakistani government. Incite a largely Muslim population to violence through well place propaganda. Then fund terrorist organizations to keep the unrest going in that region. Then publicly disavow all knowledge of the underhanded dealings and kowtow to the US. What a joke and it all hurts the common man in Kashmir.
