Syria became a nation and member of the United Nations in 1946. Before that, they were controlled by Turks, then the French, then I believe the British.

Egypt was a nation since 1922. The British, however held control of many governmental institutions till after WWII. British troops left the Canal Zone and Alexandria in 1947.

Jordan was a self-governing territory of the British till 1946 when Abdullah was proclaimed King. The Union of the West Bank and Jordan was declared in 1950.

Lebanon was declared a nation, it seems in the 1920s, but remained a French Mandate till 1943.
