Compaq announced this today (6/30) Presario 4800 Series: The Latest Generation Home Computing Experience The Presario 4800 Series offers breakthrough technologies including: the Compaq exclusive Creativity Imaging Center and backlit Easy Access buttons, Intel Pentium processors with MMX technology ranging from 200 MHz to 233 MHz, Intel Pentium II processors ranging from 233 MHz to 266 MHz; JBL 3D Virtual Theater and Dolby Digital for true-theater sound; laser sharp, full screen MPEG2 video playback; 24X Max CD-ROM(h); 56K video telephony modem(d); 6.5 GB hard drives; and 32 MB SyncDRAM on select models. The Presario 4814 model features a 100 MB Iomega Zip drive that stores mountains of data on removable disks. The Presario 4808, 4814 and 4824 range in price from $1,999 to $2,699 and are expected to be available at retail stores nationwide in July.
