Dear Patricia: Thanks for the correction on the county.
As to the tests, seems to me a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. IF you have a child who is a slow learner for one reason or another, I presume it likely is in his/her best interest AS WELL as the groups to segregate them into a Special Ed class. Of course THIS presumes the special ed class is properly conducted with the goal of improving a childs skills and not just a place for care taking. I do think, just like anything else, there are good teachers and there are bad teachers. Perhaps this testing will sort them out. As I understand it bad teachers presently can do just as well financially as good teachers which seems very unfair to me and not good for the classroom.
From what I have heard, not actually experienced personally, those countries that appear to excell educationally test up the WAHZOO. jdn
