When you get your computer set up and connect to the net for the first time your first stop should be to run Windows Update which will download and apply all current service for your OS. This is standard practice for any OS and is really no big deal.

Since I live just around the corner from you if you're still nervous you can buy me lunch and I'll drop by and check it out for you. <g>
