Re: you are lying
You wish.
We use several different 3C9XX cards - the completely new systems all use the same card (I'm at home, or I could tell you which one), and we have a program in place where some older systems are upgraded with Tyan Tiger boards, Athlon MP chips, DDR DIMMs, and a new PS (sometimes a new case). The machines keep their old hard drive, SCSI controller (if they had one), video card, network card, DVD, CDRW, etc.
Which is how we wound up with some machines using other cards (we mostly use 3Com, but have a few Intel and SMC cards installed). We had no trouble with any network cards and the Tyan Tiger, old or new. To the best of my knowledge, all the upgraded systems had 3Com cards, so I can't speak about other NICs.
None of them had the gigabit card described in the story.
Several used their old AGP cards and it was real pleasure to not have to worry about destroying the motherboard - which we would have had to worry about if the new systems had Intel chipsets in them. |
