Empire: Cadet faces sex charges Thursday, December 13, 2001 - AIR FORCE ACADEMY - An Air Force Academy cadet has been charged with sodomy with a minor and faces a maximum penalty of life in prison. Cadet Robert Ryan Burdge, a senior, faces four charges: sodomy with a minor, indecent acts with a minor, communicating indecent language to a minor and obstruction of justice, according to Academy spokesman Neil Talbott. The charges stem from an incident in June at a sports camp. An Article 32 hearing was held Thursday. Certain portions of the hearing, similar to a preliminary hearing in state criminal courts, were closed to the public, Talbott said. Commanders are reviewing the Article 32 hearing to determine whether there is enough evidence to hold a court-martial. denverpost.com
