Really IMO any problem is not a matter of much of use of derivative instruments but the level of full honest and accurate disclosure these instruments and of position and the way it is listed / reported by audit / accounting firms and the way the postions counter party positions & or any banking relationships color or shade brokerage ratings and may have shaded credit ratings! This is why (again IMO) Enron is the far greater problem than Argentina.
