I had nightmare in the air. During my 10 1/2 hour cross country return journey, my three year old terrorist took a DC-10 prisoner and proceeded to scream and battle his way through two hours of a four hour flight. There was nothing that seemed to keep this kid happy except kicking the seat in front of him, and pulling at whatever people, phone, tray, drink, etc.... he could get his hands on. If he had Mom by him, he screamed for Dad, if he had Dad, he screamed for Mom. Try to ignore him, he'd scream louder, aisle, window, whatever, you had he wanted it. A true terror in the air!!! People were straining to get a better view of whatever torture was surely being inflicted on this monster of the air. Beating em only makes them scream louder, putting a blanket on his head for timeout also seemed to make him howl. What he wanted for about an hour was for them to let him fall out of the plane. I didn't think that I could get any air crew to help me accomplish this, although I am sure many of the passengers would have gladly assisted (managed the process???). It started to amuse me when I would hear other peoples kids scream, or when the kid in the row behind us spilled a drink at dinner, and a whole row stood in their seats while a clean up ensued. We managed to keep all spills directly on only the terrorist himself. Our five year old of course pitched in to assist in the terror at particularly opportune moments to create some broad-based insurrection. Does anyone offer a service where your kids are flown in a special section where they are sound insulated from the rest of the plane? How about drugs? Are there any that are indicated to keep kids quiet and in their seats for air flights, how about to deafen the parents during the flight? At least the planes were on time!!!
