Earlie Meehan was a class act. A friend of mine who lives in the Bronx has been trying to break into Wall St for a couple years. He has no Ivy league education or connections. One of the ways he was trying to get his foot in the door was by writing well known guys and begging for a chance to work under them. He emailed Bill and was surprised to get a response. After a few exchanges Bill offered to meet my friend for drinks. Said he see what he could do to help him out. Turns out they were gonna meet about a week after Sept11. There was nothing in it for Bill and the more I read about him I get the feeling he was just a good guy. His market timing was not too shabby the last year either.
