Priceline is a great service IF you can afford to be flexible...

In the last 18 months I worked with a young software firm and the founder and I made numerous trips from Chicago to the Silicon Valley...We would book the tickets on Priceline with less than 5 days notice and often pay less than $250 for RT tickets from O'Hare to San Francisco. We also would use Priceline to get great deals on rental cars (it was typical for us to pay under $30/day and get nice rental cars (like fully loaded Camrys).

I have found that Expedia or Orbitz are other great travel web sites and are excellent places to research travel possibilities.

Regards,

Scott

BTW, I hope you enjoy your ski trip...=)
