The first four men pay nothing, the fifth $1, the sixth $3, the next three $7, $12 and $18. The tenth man pays the remaining $59. When the restaurant cuts the bill to $80, a furious fight develops over the fact that the 10th man gets $7 back. The first four bitterly complain that they didn't get anything back (even though they paid nothing to start with), the others that the 10th man got back more than they did.
