It is hard to be comfortable with a company selling off very god technology. However, I understand that the TTS business for CGRM is << $2M/year. I can understand why they decided to lose it. I do not think that LHSPF would pay CGRM royalties, as they already have TTS products. In regards to IBM, TTS is not at the core of messaging products, it is one of many value-adding features. CGRM may win by now being able to license TTS from other companies as well as LHSPF. I understand that a Japanese company has patented technology for TTS that learns to speak from users by disecting user speech, and is virtually indestinguishable from real person.
