AMD or Intel?

That's the question I'm grappling with. The store gentleman says that AMD XP1600(1.4G) is faster than Intel P4 equivalent, yet it costs less. He said the AMD will go well in the Ausus A7V266E mother board. What do you guys here think?

Another thing, should I get the DDR PC266, 256meg memory, or just the usual 256meg 133Mhz SDRAM? Is there a recognizable difference in speed? What about the RAMBUS RAM... worth its high cost?
