Pessimism benefits a rising market. It means there are still investors on the sidelines who could become buyers in the future. we are getting mixed signals. High short interest (likely the commercials), Low VIX, High level of Bulls.... I still contend that there is a hell of a lot of risk out there and not a whole lot of fear. India/Pakistan look to be fingering the red button Israel/PLO-Arab world - coming to a head Argentina Enron China's economic house of cards Japan's perpetual economic nightmare On the other hand, it could be considered a wall of worry that needs to be climbed.
