Stinker List

siliconinvestor.com

Updated: 28-Dec-01

General Commentary
Another day of light, generally positive trading with the tech-heavy Nasdaq adding nearly 16 points on volume of 1.2 bln... Sector, which surged over past couple of months, now waiting for earnings news to justify advance... Unfortunately, earnings season doesn't begin for another few week so we can expect more dull, choppy sessions in the days to come... Bias should remain positive, however, as traders gradually increase exposure to the sector in anticipation of an economic/earnings recovery in CY02.

With the economy expected to turnaround next year, Briefing.com thought now might be a good time to look at some of this year's tech stinkers, on the assumption that as the economy improves so too might the fortunes of the 24 beleagured companies listed below... Quite often the prior year's dogs tend to enjoy a nice bargain hunting (post tax-selling) boost come the first of the year... Some of these names have already enjoyed significant gains off their 52-wk lows, though each remains down by at least 50% year-to-date... In other words, there should be a little bounce left.
