Respond to Afghan offers to extradite Bin Laden, work through the UN, work through the World Court, set up a special tribunal like for Milosevic, etc. Basically, law & order, democracy, and other concepts we are claiming to be defending as we trample on them.

But, I don't see how it is not extraordinarily useful to inform the American public that the U.S. is currently refusing to extradite to Haiti a killer on the scale of Bin Laden. Exposing that kind of hypocrisy is very, very valuable to our nation. Allowing that kind of hypocrisy to fester allows our nation to be degraded from the inside.
