Hmmmm......I believe there is newer and more sophisticated technology on the way. I don't know how I feel about it, and I don't recall how it works.

There's probably several running around.

E-911 was written around the notion of providing a similar capability that exists with the wired infrastructure, i.e., if you are in a pysical state, such as a heart attack, that you can only dial 911 but not speak, they [health authorities and police] still know where you're calling from. Along with that the locating of the bad dudes perpetrating kidnappings and the like.

It's reasonable to want the same facility for mobile phones.

Is it possible to imagine abuses? Do we potentially lose our sense of privacy? We get photo-ed on the road [speeding] monitored by security cameras in public and private places, tracked through our use of credit and debit cards....now add to that being tracked by our mobile phones...Is there no escape <s>.
