Contradictory statement. Pakistan has never really supported Kashmir's right for self-determination.

Irrelevant. India never really supported the creation of Pakistan and Bangladesh (former E. Pakistan)

And the 15-20% of Shiite Muslims probably don't support having the dominant Sunnis in charge in Islamabad.

Certainly the Muhajir's of Pakistan feel the oppression from the Punjabi dominated government in that nation:

And I'm not trying to discount your argument, but rather to focus in on why areas of discord and disagreement become convenient vehicles for pursuing other agendas.

Let's face it.. Neither side desire to go to war as a whole. But certain elements in both societies (mostly those without children in harm's way) are more than willing to see blood spilled over this.

Now we have to define whether this is an argument over land, or about how a people is treated and represented in a society. The Indians can easily state that Kashmiris have the right to vote in Indian society, whereas Pakistanis do not.

Or the Indians can state that 30% of Kashmir is NON-muslim and claim that they have to protect minority rights.

The bottom line is that they can proclaim anything they want on either side and argue it forcefully and with logic.

The rule of the strong will always win over the protests of the weak.

Pakistan will get Kashmir when they can kick India's butt and take it from them.
