SCOUT CAPITAL CORP.: CORPORATE UPDATE
Scout Capital has acquired 2,032,317 common shares of Synsorb Biotech representing approximately 5.1 per cent of the issued and outstanding common shares of Synsorb effective Dec. 21, 2001. Scout is proceeding with the filing of a schedule 13D with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission with respect to its acquisition of the Synsorb shares. The purchases were made in the open market through the facilities of the Toronto Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market. The common shares of Synsorb were acquired for investment purposes. However, Scout intends to monitor its interests in Synsorb on a continuing basis and to take such measures as it deems appropriate from time to time in furtherance of such interests. Scout may from time to time acquire additional common shares of Synsorb, dispose of some or all of the common shares of Synsorb then beneficially owned by it, discuss Synsorb's business, operations or other affairs with Synsorb's management, board of directors, shareholders or others, or take such other actions as Scout may deem appropriate.
