Earlie,

In the "for what it is worth column". As you know my daughter sells into the advertising and professional information archiving industry. Her suppliers are having pricing power and she is able to pass the increase in prices on to her customers. The supplies (batteries, film paper, film, special printing paper, photo quality ink, etc.) that she provides to her customers are increasing in price. She noted that both Kodak and Polaroid are increasing film prices. These supplies are where the margins are high. I purchased a battery from her for a camera and she said the mark up was over 200%. <g> The equipment she sells is giving the customer more capabilities and the prices are stable. This is a niche business of high resolution equipment. Her customers use Macintosh computers, Adobe software, high end scanning equipment, photo quality printers, high resolution cameras ($50,000 to $300,000). Her sales were slightly down this year, but not bad relative to other areas in the economy.

Joan
