especially since these upgrade jobs are primarily designed to crowd out competing products, to sell more unwanted services from MS, and to collect customer data for reselling. since MS has enforced obsolescence on its products, the best solution for the monopoly is to allow competitive firms to sell, support, and service past versions of Windows, Office, etc. if Microsoft is no longer interested in selling them.
