PRESIDENTIAL PRAYER REQUESTS FOR THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 30:

As a New Year approaches, pray for the President, that all levels of his
administration will be conducted with godliness and righteousness
throughout 2002. Pray that he will serve wisely, encouraging respect for
godly virtue and faith, through the fair execution of the laws of our
nation. Pray that he and the leadership of each department and branch of
the government will act in justice and mercy, understanding that we are
one nation under God.

Pray that godly wisdom will direct the leaders of each party in Congress
so that our country will be strengthened and peace will be preserved.
Pray that industry, sobriety, and useful knowledge will be lavished on our
nation, along with the blessings of liberty and freedom, which have been
won through the sacrifice of generations past.

Lastly, pray that God will continue to heal our nation of the wounds
inflicted on her this past year and the New Year will usher in a time of
peace and continued unity in our land.

ADDITIONAL LEADERS TO PRAY FOR THIS WEEK:

Secretary of Energy: Spencer Abraham
Secretary of Veterans Affairs: Anthony Principi
Secretary of the Interior: Gale Norton

PRESIDENTIAL QUOTES FOR THE WEEK:
"The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of
today. Let us move forward with strong and active faith."
--Franklin D. Roosevelt

"This nation is daring and decent and ready for change."
--George W. Bush

INSPIRATIONAL VERSE FOR THE WEEK:
"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to
prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"
--The Bible, Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

PERSPECTIVE ON THE PRESIDENT:
"One of the truly wonderful things about Bush and his wife is their
comfort-level in talking about their faith in Jesus Christ, without
setting off alarm bells in people who believe differently. Clearly, faith
and prayer are deeply important to this President, and with great results.
They have been a wellspring of strength and comfort and compassion for him
during this crisis. And in turn the President has helped encourage a
stunned and rattled nation to turn its eyes towards the God who loves us
and can guide us through the valley of the shadow of death."
--Steve Forbes
