<<Can I say penis?>>

Today on SI, probably so. At one time, not a chance in Jill's jail, er SI Hades.

My one and only suspension (and I did not even now that suspensions existed until I got hit with it) was for using the word "urinate." As I recall, someone had mentioned how crappy something was so I (thinking I would be witty) responded by asking if someone had urinated in their breakfast cereal that morning. Frankly, I used the word both as a play off the "crap" in the post to which I was responding and because I was not sure if "peed" (as in "peed in your Wheaties") was the correct spelling of the past tense of pee. (This was in the pre spell checker days of SI). Since it would never do to misspeel a word when one is trying to be witty (read smart ass), I chose to use urinate instead of peed.

Jill was not impressed with either my word choice, my intended responsiveness, or my explanation and it cost me a few days of not posting.

Compared to a lot on SI these days, penis is down right mild. I suspect that urinate will no longer get me in trouble -- at least not when used in context. However, were we to draw a computer picture of a penis urinating, I suspect we would face a different result. Some things are better left to one's imagination.

After all of this, I hope I can still respond before sometime near the end of next week. ;)
