So why not pay $10 billion for the company right now? I think there is some future for Genomics; however, I think it is way too early to start placing such large bets. Like I said before, I like Dr. Zaffaroni and I'm interested in the technology, but not at this price. By the way, Zaffaroni's companies haven't done such a spectacular job of returning value to their shareholders. Buying AZA stock 10 years ago would have got you nowhere compared to investing in Bonds or an index fund. I also want to see how the curretn management team at Affymetrix pans out. So far I'm not encouraged by the large numbers of 144 filings. From my experience, story stocks like this have a tendency to get hammered when they reach these lofty levels. Affymetrix - no matter how much I may like the story - is still a development stage company. As such, the chances are well over 90% that the company will never turn a profit.
