Elmer- This one's a head scratcher. AMD can't sell all the Durons they're already making and will probably have to write off a boatload of them

Hey, have you been paying attention? Yes, AMD is having trouble selling Durons made in Austin with a .18/aluminum process. With the evil devil Intel going to .13 celerons, the Austin Durons are becoming non-competitive. So should AMD spend a lot of money upgrading Austin or should they take the "virtual" approach and share costs with a partner? Since AMD does have manufacturing expertise to offer, presumably UMC is offering a good deal.

Anyway, have a happy new years eve and best of luck in '02. Presumably 2002 will bring wisdom and a switch to become one of Jerry's kids.
