Dan, et al,

I agree that there doesn't appear to be much interest in PMs these days. I take this a bullish. I notice that the prices of gold and silver spiked up during the last hour of trading this, the last day of 2001. Let's hope the move continues into 2002.

I didn't notice anything in Barron's this past week concerning PMs. Even though the Commodities Corner was general discussion of commodities, PMs weren't mentioned. It may be of interest that it was suggested that the price of oil should not move up in 2002.

The GMI/POG ratio:

On 12/27, the Barron's GMI was 317.95 down significantly from the previous week's value of 324.68. With the POG up to 276.50 (12/28), the ratio was down to 1.15

The ratio a year previously was 0.96.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!

Cheers,
Larry
