because of our vast forest and grasslands,.. You must be kidding! Have you been out there to look at those so-called "vast forest and grasslands"? As I drive through the Willapa Hills, I see signs announced 3rd and 4th cutting by Weyhauser. The trees are small and spindly. As I hike in the Cascades and Olympics, I see vast signs of clearcuts. As I drive over Snoqualmie Pass or Stevens Pass, I see more vast areas of clearcuts. There are very few old growth trees left in Washington or Oregon. The grasslands have been plowed under for agriculture. The Bush Administration is doing everything it can to promote the cutting of the Tongass National Forest in Alaska.
