I guess that depends on your definition of collapse.

Given that we're talking about a 50% drop in Intel's price here, I'll take that as a stock collapse.

From fall 2000 to fall 2001, Intel's stock price declined about 75%. And yet, during that period of time, the US economy grew. It didn't collapse at all.

IMO, the importance of tech in the US economy is vastly overstated.
