I find this an interesting pronouncement considering the source:

Arab League head: Palestinian issue losing importance

Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa believes the Palestinian issue is lessening in worldwide importance.
[nc: This is not good news for Arafat et. al.; do I perceive the Arab League putting a certain distance between itself and the Palestinian Authority?]

The primary focus of the world community is on the struggle against terrorism, Moussa told the London-based Al Hayat daily this morning.

He added that, in his opinion, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon would not succeed in convincing the world community that Palestinian aspirations were connected to terror.
[nc: Sharon doesn't have to convince the world. Just the US]

In a related story, Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher said yesterday that the return of the US envoy to the Middle East is essential for the start of serious negotiations between Israel and Palestinians.
