"" I fail to see why so many of the people (some with good intentions some just down right nasty people) who either where trying to save us from ourselves (some people on here) or just downright gleefully hoping and encoureging the screwing (the category I lump yourself in) keep hanging around to dance on the graves of our screwup and lost money""
I believe that many people attempt to explain a problem with a stock and are slammed, name called, insulted and accused of being "evil shorters", paid bashers" and so many OTCBB mythical monsters by the "longs" on the threads. This tends to eventually leave a significant bad taste in the mouths of anyone treated in such a way.
It is simply human nature. The "longs" believe they are protecting their investment and they are in fact, brainwashed into that bunker mentality. That is a favored ploy that directs attention away from the company and also encourages the "long" to blindly defend the company against the "lying evil shorters".
On occasion, some people survive that mess and actually apologize, but there are many more that never recover. The damage is done, not by the people that bring negative information about the company, but by the Pumpers that recklessly confuse them for their own gain. RMIL had several vicious people that were no doubt selling while they spoke of their "cartel" buying, money on it's way etc...
I think it is the terrible damage those con-people inflict on others, that does not allow them to be so quickly forgotten.
I think it is much like a rattlesnake. If you step on one...don't pick your foot back up until it stops wiggling. There are obvious reasons for that.
As for Ellen, it is said when anyone passes and without regard to her positions on various BB scam stocks in the past, she must have been a brave woman, as she never showed self pity and must have been keenly aware of her condition and ultimate demise. As note by Bob Z...she did make some remarkable changes in her investments as well as her public demeanor.
I miss RileyG as I feel he needed some more kicking in the head for his bozo leadership. I think he got off too easy. Of course he did kind of engineer his own departure from SI. On Raging Bull he did go after the Morgan, Breton entry of an other BB stock. Several old OVIS/RMIL people Pro and Con. actually prevented it from getting off the ground.
I don't exactly know how any of this will pan out, but it seems with the fracturing of the market and the reduction of posters here on SI, much has been lost in the vein of research and discussion. It seems there was always a place to talk about any particular issue. Now, only the most commonly held stocks have active threads and then, never as they had been in the past.
SI in 1997 and 1998 was a time of the explosion of the internet and online investing. SI may be lacking a following for so many stocks now, but at least one doesn't put up with the YaHoo juvenile and obnoxious postings.
Somehow I wish I could turn back the clock and have SI the premium site with the greatest number of subscribers, but I don't know if it will ever be able to accomplish that again. I don't believe any site will be able to have the volume of postings, with the relatively high degree of polite and informative posters contributing to the education of all.
