Any camera capable of 640x480 is "OK" for most people. Not if they ever want to print or enlarge a picture it isnt!! I agree with (Ausdauer?) or whoever advised 3MP. That is probably the sweet spot for price performance right now. 2MP is OK but if you need to make enlargements you'll probably be sorry. I'd say it depends how much money you have, it may be worth buying a cheap 2MP and using it for 6 - 12 months to work out what you really need, want, and will appreciate. I did this with a 1MP 3 years ago and just got a 3MP. I'd been looking for a 3MP for a year but it took that long for one to come along with the right characteristics (including price) for me. FWIW, that was the Canon S30. I wanted a small (pocketable) camera, otherwise I'd have gone for Nikon 995 or Canon G2. Tw
