Since I consider the demise of Fascism and Communism as being the central events of the century, Yeltsin has to stay. Without his defiance at the Duma, it is possible that the Politburo would have gotten away with replacing Gorbachev and cracking down. As far as the writers go, I will give it some thought. Fitzgerald probably won't do, though. Maybe Sinclair Lewis or Saul Bellow.....
