WinXP home lan question for the Gurus.

Current setup:

Main system connected to ADSL and hub with internet sharing.

Works fine, all systems can access the net.

Here's what I want to do:

When the main system is off I want my laptop lan config
to auto switch to static IP's. (Obviously cannot share the net connection with the main box)

In Win98 I had a shareware program called NetSwither that
changed the IP settings with one click and then rebooted.

Question:

Can WinXP autosense that Internet Sharing is not available
and therefore auto switch to static Ip setting?

All systems running Windows XP Pro with all latest patches.

Thanks

Stang
