Did you even bother to click on the link
No, I actually relied on your summary which implied (to my reading) that 100000 years ago was the beginning of weather.

Upon looking at the link it is very old speculation (1887) by Ignatius Donnelly for diffent types of fossils found in earth layers. Look at the parent link
stanford.edu
Ignatius Donnelly, visionary futurist, returns from the past to visit a notable creek in California, finding there evidence of impending millenial instability, including global warming, AIDS, and stock market speculation;

At best this is some kind of joke. The jist of the joke seems to be to trot out Donnelly's wild speculation from the late 1800s and show that it is just as vague and prophetic now (and therefore as worthless as a Jean Dixon horoscope) as it was then. The butt of the joke are those taken again by the narrative.
