Herb, Any deal to sell volume at Wallmart is a good deal. may people see the products and words will spread that they are good products.
The name I see is Compaq on the monitor, does that mean a total CPQ system or a white boxer sold the computers and Walmart added the monitors on their own. We all know that CPQ is bleeding money and may well have sold the monitors to Walmart for fast cash.
It is not likely that Walmart would buy less than 200 or so systems per store, so that intimates a possibility of 600,000 systems? Of course this may also be a limited volume special and only a few Walmarts have them? Has anyone seen them on the Wallmart web site(indicating universal availability)

I cannot see any negative aspect to this at all? A large volume seller selling volume of your product? Sounds like AMD is doing well.
By the way, $998 is a near high end system price as the low ends are half that price. True there are $2000 systems, but those are at the very top end now in the white box arena although I am sure IBM will sell you a high end system for a lot more than that.
