Combjelly, "AMD, like Intel, deals with the OEM and not the retailer" I am quite sure this computer is a special product for Walmart on Walmart terms. Note the model number 5415WM (WM?) I am also quite sure that Compaq is worked with AMD to price this product. AMD's sales people have more flexibility in setting the pricing. Not like that is news. However with Compaq you may never know because they are notorious for selling computers at a loss, ask the Hewlett and Packard families.

No matter how the Droids want to spin it, for Athlon XP this is a low end system and probably not profitable for AMD.
