Probably is. That is a common practice with large retailers like Walmart. Your point? I doubt seriously that AMD is selling AthlonXPs to Compaq for this product at $30 a pop, which is where it would have to be priced to be unprofitable for AMD, per your claim. Now AMD very well may have given Compaq a lower than normal price if Compaq bought an extremely large number for this machine, but that is pretty normal in any event. There is no evidence, except for your wishful thinking, that AMD sold those processors at Duron-like pricing. Shouldn't have to on a machine priced at nearly $1k from a low-margin retailer like Walmart.
