Tom, the NAZ bubble has been deflating for some 18 months. We ended down for the 2nd straight year.
The question now is will earnings comparisons year over year beat the estimates?

Since the bench mark has come way down it would be a lot easier to exceed the expectations. The market will try to trade higher on "good news". This could be profits that are lower than 2 years ago, but higher than last year. Remember it will be a game of numbers. beating the Street may be all that matters.

I think there are opps both long and short, just like last year. for the time being i'm mostly long. now if CCMP would just drop i would be a very happy camper!

PS: if and when you get the terrorist in Afgan. that would shoot the market higher. then what?
