I have always felt that the excessive adulation of sports in our modern society, to the detriment of academic excellence, speaks volumes.Just try to cut the high school football, hockey, or basketball program to free more money for academics, and see what happens. And this is not solely a US problem, by any means. And this is from one who still plays them to this day, hockey, at least. Thankfully , there are still many who would rather learn than play.
One big problem that is aggravating our health care system is our weakened currency, compared to the US dollar.Medical personnel, and professionals in many walks of life, are heading south , and one major reason is much larger incomes. Inducing them to stay has become a difficult problem. The brain drain continues. |
