I'll assume that your tongue is not firmly planted in your cheek.
The idea of a Creator defies all logic. But so does every important aspect of our existence. We may have watches and telescopes, but time and space are utterly beyond our comprehension. If they are infinite, we cannot begin to understand that. If they are not infinite, we cannot begin to understand that. So much for our intellects, our reason, and our logic.
I have no particular problem with agnostics. Live and let live, I say. Atheists irritate me because of their arrogance and egotism in asserting a definitive answer to that which cannot be known by human minds. To argue that God would never allow cruelty and suffering, for example, is preposterous and ridiculous. (Actually, I can think of some very good reasons why He would). When we do not, and cannot, understand the very nature of our own existence, daring to interpret or pass judgement on God's actions through our own feeble brains becomes the height of pomposity. |
