Rydex Total Assets Update for Wednesday, January 2nd 2002:

Regular Series:

SPX Long - NOVA 280.5 Million
SPX Short- URSA 246.2 Million
NDX Long - OTC 1.017 BILLION**BEARISH
NDX Short- ARKTOS 91.7 Million**BULLISH

XAU Precious Metals 37.9 Million**BULLISH
Energy 41.2 Million**BEARISH
Banking 23.0 Million**BULLISH
Biotech 345.2 Million**BEARISH
Money Market 1.142 BILLION**BEARISH Overbought

*******************************************

Dynamic Series (200% correlation to Index)

SPX Long - TITAN 143.2 Million**BEARISH
SPX Short- TEMPEST 136.1 Million**BULLISH

NDX Long - VELOCITY 225.0 Million**BEARISH
NDX Short- VENTURE 152.3 Million**BULLISH

*********************************************

Interesting twist to start off the new year. MM TA shrink below overbought levels and register Bearish reading. However, both Short Funds in Dynamic Series increased - as did both Long Funds in the leveraged family.

There is going to be a lot of whipsaw action until Bull or Bear takes control... and this may not manifest itself until after January 18th.. when our coveted mercury retrograde begins again and last until Feb 8th. The last M.R. accelerated the melt-up from bottom (Oct 2 - 23) last fall.

Rydex for 2001, I closed out the year UP 13% in Regular Series. In Dynamic Series, I lost a paltry - 1.7% after being up over 30% and 20% on separate occasions respectively, I managed to get whipsawed and frozen like a deer in headlights and gave it all back.

Regular Series: 100% SPX Long NOVA
Dynamic Series: 100% NDX Long VELOCITY

Best Regards, J.T.
