The bombing hastened the official surrender by some 4 or 5 weeks. The war ended in August. The report you quoted earlier said the war would have ended anyway by December. Probably by November. That makes it as long as 4 months if you take the later figure. Of course its possible that it could have been less then 4 weeks or more then 4 months. I find it hard to see how you can be so certain in this case. Tim
