Actually, only a couple out of more than 50 Islamic countries have a crescent on their flags. As for the crescent being a relic of antiquated paganism, the fact is that crescent is used by some as an Islamic symbol because Muslims follow a lunar calendar. That's all there is to it.
Just providing some facts.
