Cynicism....
>>If you believe your purpose is to "serve" God then you're welcome to that perspective but as God has no needs He requires no "service".
As there is only one of us then how can we not be the source?>>
This kind of tongue in cheek response appears to be a kind, innocent, round about way of making a mockery of The Divine Providence which is the perfect order of our Father's plan for creation which includes, at the highest topic on the list, the creation of an infinite Heaven filled with united minds, souls and spirits on ONE Royal Highway that receive and celebrate the fathomless depth of His energy, His truth, His light, His plan, His Will which includes His plan for mankind.
Saying that you or anyONE of us is the/a source separates us from the Divine Providence which is THE ONLY source.
ONE End.
Not 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 or 7,8,9,10,11,12, etc.
ONE Source.
Everything else can only be either 1) "a cause" emmanating from this ONE Source; or 2) "an effect" which is manifest from one of an infinite number of "causes" that proceed forth from the ONE End/Source.
If you still insist on being the ONE Source or End of the universe there's a whole lotta explaining to do. There's a huge difference being the ONE Source or End and either 1) a cause or 2) an effect.
And it's impossible to argue the case for the existence of "islands" - ie. 1) Ends and Sources isolated with NO/ZERO causes; 2) Causes isolated with ZERO/NO connection to any End/Source; 3) Causes isolated from any "effects"; 4) Effects isolated from Causes, etc. etc.
As for "serving God" you are absolutely right that this is what I believe is part of the perfect design of His Will for it's through His Love for us that the entire design for the universe came into being. This isn't some flakey selfish"no needs" concept. For in the perfect absence of selfish need His Love rises to transcend to support and provide life for everything in the universe.
And this aspect of "service" is really the perfect essence of FREEDOM and FREEWILL for in becoming ONE with Him we find the perfect and infinite home of our soul which is being in a perfect spiritual balance with Him, by Him, for Him, in Him, etc.
If this "appears to" sound like passive, dumb, slave driving servitude then perhaps you could chose to receive another idea that could help you get closer to embracing more positively the infinite, unconditional aspect of this paradox .
Cynical attitudes shut the doors on this understanding. They place God behind the conditional curtains of illusion which only support the insane sense of separation between Him and mankind.
