TROY, Mich., Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Delphi Automotive Systems (NYSE: DPH) will demonstrate its Cell Phone Interface Unit at the 2002 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week. The Delphi system integrates a new model Kyocera portable phone into the vehicle interior design and helps drivers keep their eyes on the road and hands on the steering wheel as they use the cellular phone. The unit will be available in 2002 on General Motors Cadillac vehicles.

``Our new Cell Phone Interface Unit allows users to enjoy the clean styling of a fully integrated phone system and the flexibility of a portable telephone,'' said Bob Schumacher, general director of Delphi's Mobile MultiMedia Business Unit. ``The real benefit of this product is that it allows true hands-free use of the mobile phone while giving the driver call information in a way that doesn't require taking eyes off the road - a feature that isn't typical of standard hands-free kits.''

Delphi's Cell Phone Interface Unit displays the telephone information in the vehicle's instrument cluster and is supplemented with steering wheel controls and speech recognition. The cluster information display includes the phone number, signal strength, roaming indicator and caller ID. With voice recognition dialing and phone information displayed in large alphanumeric language, there is no need to touch the portable phone to dial while driving.

The Delphi Cell Phone Interface Unit allows consumers to retain and use their personal Kyocera QCP3035 phone and existing network service while in the car. In addition, the unit provides the user with the higher reliability associated with automotive requirements.
