We send aid to the Soviets during WWII

Correct, Tim - massive aid in the form of "lend-lease," a euphemism for give-away. And after the war, we offered the Soviets participation in the Marshall Plan for rebuilding their economy, which they refused.

The USA is the most selfless and generous great power the world has ever known ... a nation devoted to promoting democracy and freedom for all peoples. It is not the fault of the U.S. that in many instances when the yoke of colonialism has been released, immature societies have fallen under the dictatorship of their own home-grown despots. In the case of South Korea, for example, after repelling the invasion from the north, we tried mightily to find and support a native democratic government, without success.

I will never understand why some people who live in a country so dedicated to doing good, only seem to find pleasure in looking under every rock to uncover something, anything, that they can criticize about their nation.
