Usual premium on WTI to brent reversed

Unusually cold weather in Europe -- average temperatures in Greece in December fell to their lowest level in 40 years, the daily Kathimerini reported -- has reversed the usual premium of about $1.35 on U.S. benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude to Brent. Traders are paying about 40 cents more for oil in London.

``In Germany, November was a little colder than normal but there was a change in the pattern around Dec. 13,'' said Dale Mohler, senior meteorologist at Accuweather Inc. in State College, Pennsylvania. ``Temperatures have averaged 7 degrees below normal in Frankfurt for almost 4 weeks. That same system is battering Greece and Turkey.''
